The Opportunity

Use your marketing and communications skills to make a difference for Wisconsin researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs. At WiSys, we help bring innovations from university labs to the marketplace through intellectual property protection, research & development support, and grant programs.

 

This role will work to share important company news, promote WiSys programs and services and tell stories that engage the best and brightest working and learning in the UW System throughout the state.

 

WiSys is a small organization and offers you an opportunity to gain a wide range of experiences that can be aligned with your interests. Examples of main responsibilities include:

  • Creating promotional materials about WiSys and WiSys events
  • Writing articles and press releases
  • Crafting social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Email marketing
  • Assisting with other efforts, such as event planning, as needed

 

Internship Details:

We are seeking a student to start in the summer and continue through the next academic year. The intern would be able to work up to 15 hours per week during the semester and up to 30 hours per week during the summer, between Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Hours are flexible to ensure the student’s education remains a top priority. The starting rate for this position is $13 per hour.

 

This position may be done remotely or from our offices located at 614 Walnut Street in Madison, Wisconsin.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a student majoring in journalism, marketing, communications, graphic design or creative arts, and/or possess some of the following skills: 

  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Use of social media to promote and communicate
  • Ability to edit photos and videos
  • Writing and editing experience
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience updating websites
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
