The Opportunity

Help to foster the research culture on your campus while learning about intellectual property management and bringing impactful ideas to the marketplace.

 

THE PROGRAM:

WiSys Ambassadors are students from UW System Comprehensive Campuses* who play a key role in enhancing the vital connection between WiSys and researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs on UW System Campuses. * UW Comprehensive Campuses include UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, UW-Superior and UW-Whitewater

 

WiSys is looking for student ambassadors on each UW Comprehensive Campus who can commit 5-10 hours per month during the 2022-23 academic year. WiSys Ambassadors are considered employees of WiSys and will be compensated at an hourly rate of $12/hour.

  • Increase the understanding of intellectual property and commercialization of innovations.
  • Enhance the understanding and awareness of WiSys’ role across the UW System Comprehensive Campuses.
  • Increase engagement with academics and students undertaking innovative and applied research.
  • Foster a more entrepreneurial culture on campus.
  • Help identify potential opportunities where WiSys can provide support.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?

  • Develop leadership abilities by helping to enhance the innovative and entrepreneurial culture on campus.
  • Receive intellectual property and commercialization training and gain valuable experience in the field of academic technology transfer, both of which can serve as a great addition to their resume.

  • Develop new skills in innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Receive travel allowances for conferences/events.
  • Eligibility to apply for a WiSys Ambassador Grant that will support your research on campus.

Qualifications

  • Be an undergraduate (sophomore, junior and/or senior standing) or graduate student in any discipline during the 2022-23 academic year.
  • Be able to commit 5-10 hours/month to the program.
  • Be able to participate in a one-day student ambassador training/orientation.

Particularly strong applicants are collaborative, engaged and productive with an enthusiasm for innovation and research.
