    The Opportunity

    Use your passion for communication to make a difference as a social media and communications intern at WiSys Technology Foundation. At WiSys, we help bring innovations from university labs to the marketplace through intellectual property protection, research & development support and grant programs. This intern will work closely with the Communications Specialist and Regional Associates to promote the stories of the people and places that make up the UW System’s robust community of innovators. Primary duties include:

    1. Assist with managing WiSys’ website and social media feeds with a unique voice and perspective, building a network of followers that will further promote WiSys stories and events.
    2. Use technical writing skills to summarize complicated technologies and effectively communicate their marketing potential and development needs
    3. The intern may also assist with other public relations, event planning and marketing functions as needed

    Internship Details:

    We are seeking a student to start immediately and continue into the academic year with availability between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for an estimated 10 to 15 hours per week. WiSys is located in Research Park in the First Business Bank Building at 401 Charmany Drive in Madison.


    The ideal candidate will be a student majoring in life science communications, journalism or marketing with working knowledge of social media metrics, as well as acumen for using social media for business purposes, and strong skills in data analysis. Candidates must possess great attention to detail and conduct oneself in a professional manner. Knowledge of AP style required and basic web coding or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) experience preferred, but not required.
