WiSys was established in 2000 and is an independent, nonprofit supporting organization for the University of Wisconsin System. As the official designated technology transfer office for the UW System Comprehensive Campuses, UW Colleges and UW Extension, WiSys advances scientific research throughout the state by patenting technologies from the universities and licensing these inventions to companies capable of developing them to benefit Wisconsin and beyond. WiSys in partnership with the UW Oshkosh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is excited to announce the recruitment of a WiSys Entrepreneur Team. This team will consist of four UW Oshkosh students committed to assisting in the development and expansion of WiSys owned Intellectual Property, selected by the Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The WiSys Entrepreneur Team will work towards successful IP Commercialization by working collaboratively with customers, mentors, faculty, economic development entities, and the business community. This position is a true startup experience focused on product development and sales.
The WiSys Entrepreneur Team is responsible for performing market research, managing product development, soliciting potential customers, formalizing a business entity, and eventually commercializing the selected intellectual property. Your end goal is to launch a startup company that maintains exclusive license to the product/service. To accomplish this, you will work weekly with your team, the staff at the CEI, faculty, and mentors as well as WiSys.
Essential Job Functions:
This position requires a one hour weekly meeting with the team/staff and an additional nine hours a week meeting assigned metrics/goals. The position also requires monthly reporting to WiSys. We anticipate this position to run through the summer and into the fall of 2018 – unless the team secures revenue. Once revenue is generated, a startup company (with the WiSys Entrepreneur Team as founders) will be organized.

This includes having the ability to network within the business community and university. The ideal applicant will have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills as well as the ability to plan, organize, and deliver services to team and customers.
